Getting to Naturewalk
Route 1 is a direct route from the western suburb of San Jose, Santa Ana to Naturewalk. This is a very scenic route through the the small towns of Cuidad Colon, Puriscal and La Gloria. The route is paved about 1/3 of the way (about 8 kilometers on the western side of Puriscal) and then gravel for the balance of the trip.
Puriscal is a high elevation town and so the mountain scenery on both sides is spectacular. The route ends up crossing a picturesque steel bridge which crosses the Tulin River. From there you take an immediate right and Naturewalk starts 1/2 a kilometer up the road. If you take a wrong turn, you can ask for the next town on the map, or ask for the town Pavona which is in the middle of Naturewalk or La Delicous which is a town 10 kilometers after Naturewalk. Driving time on this road is about 2 hours.

Route 2
Route Two is accessed from the Costanera (the Coast Highway) about 10 kilometers south of Jaco and Hermosa. You will notice a sign on the right indicating Montelimar. Turn left onto a paved road at this sign.
The paving ends a short distance after the turn and you will be on a gravel road for the balance of the trip to Naturewalk. Continue along this road, (you will notice a large green field on your right and then in about 3 more kilometers you will take a sharp right onto a bridge over one of paths of the Tulin River.
This route takes you through a picturesque mountain canyon which separates the the coast from the first inland valley which is where Naturewalk is. After moving through the Canyon in 2 kilometers you will reach Montelimar, a very cute and authentic Costa Rica farming village. You will know it as it has a great bullring and church and paved Main Street. After leaving Montelimar, in 3 kilometers you will stay left and pass over a small bridge. If you make a mistake and go right you will end up in San Antonio de Tulin and will need to retrace your route and go right at the intersection and over the bridge. Carry along this road and in a short time you will see the Tulin River. after going past a steel bridge on your right, you will see a the road start to climb and you are at Naturewalk. Driving time on this road from the turn off at the Costanera to Naturewalk is about 35 to 40 minutes.
Route 3 is accessed from the Costanera (the Coast Highway) at Jaco. At the beginning of Jaco proper you will take a left from the Highway accross from the Maxi Pali Food Store. This gravel route will take you up some grade to get over the coast mountains through Bigiwell the largest of the inland villages.
If you get lost on this route just ask for directions to Biguiell. At Biguel you will carry through past the green soccer field, past the small convenience store, the small hardware store and very shortly, on the way out of town you will reach a Y in the road. Take the left Y and continue south always staying to the right.
If you get lost on this section of the route, ask for the town of La Delcious or Pavona which is in the middle of Naturewalk. When you get through La Delicious continue to head south and in about 10 kilometers you will come upon a small town call San Gabriel. Continue to head south and in about 1 kilometer you will reach Naturewalk. Driving time on this road from the turnoff at the Costanara to Naturewalk iis about 45 mins
Route 3
Route 4 is accessed from the Costanera (the Coast Highway) about 2 kilometers south of the famous Tarcoles Bridge (know for its crocodiles).
The sign says Villa Lapas and you will turn right onto a gravel road. This route takes you throught the very scenic Carara National Park.
Always bear right on this road and in about 25 minutes you will arrive at Biguel. At this point take a right in front of the small grocery store (the green soccer field is on your right. You will immediately pass the small hardware store and very shortly, on the way out of town you will reach a Y in the road. Take the left Y and continue south always staying to the right.
If you get lost on this section of the route, ask for the town of La Delicious or Pavona which is in the middle of Naturewalk. When you get through La Delicious continue to head south and in about 10 kilometers you will come upon a small town call San Gabriel. Continue to head south and in about 1 kilometer you will reach Naturewalk. Driving time on this road from the turnoff at the Costanara to Naturewalk is about 45 mins to 1 hour.
